Production: Shoot day 3

For our final shoot, we took things outdoors, capturing the last set of scenes in a natural setting. The open space brought a fresh energy to the shoot, with natural light adding depth and realism to our frames. We focused on dynamic shots, making the most of the surroundings to enhance the visual storytelling. Despite the challenges of unpredictable weather and environmental distractions, the team worked seamlessly to get every shot just right. As the sun set, we wrapped up our final takes, feeling a mix of exhaustion and accomplishment. With all footage now in hand, we knew we had captured something truly special, marking the perfect end to our production journey.

First cut and Feedback

After completing the first half of our shoot, we presented the initial cut to Sir for feedback. As he watched, we eagerly awaited his reaction, hoping our vision translated well on screen. He carefully analyzed each scene, commenting on the strengths and pointing out areas that could be improved. His feedback was insightful, helping us refine the pacing, transitions, and emotional depth of the project. While he appreciated our effort and creativity, he also provided valuable suggestions to enhance certain shots. Taking his advice into account, we left the session motivated, ready to make the necessary adjustments and push our work to the next level.

Production: Shoot day 2

On our second shoot day, we shifted to an intimate setting, filming inside a closed room to capture the deeper, more emotional moments of our project. The controlled environment allowed us to focus on lighting and framing, creating a moody and immersive atmosphere. Every shot was carefully planned to highlight the raw emotions of the scene, making sure every expression and movement told a story. The team worked closely to perfect each take, adjusting angles and lighting to bring out the best visuals. It was a long but productive day, and by the end, we had captured some of the most powerful moments of our shoot.

planning: budget

 ### **Budget Plan for Music Video Shoot – PKR 100,000**

To ensure a professional-quality music video within a budget of **PKR 100,000**, we must allocate funds carefully across key areas: camera and equipment rentals, lighting, editing software, transportation, and contingency costs.

#### **1. Camera and Lenses – PKR 40,000**

The camera is the most critical element of the shoot, and renting a high-quality **DSLR or mirrorless camera** is more cost-effective than purchasing one. A recommended option is the **Sony A7III or Canon EOS R**, both known for their excellent low-light performance and cinematic visuals. A **50mm f/1.8 lens** will be ideal for close-up emotional shots, while a **24mm lens** can capture wider urban landscapes. Renting these for three days will cost approximately **PKR 40,000**.

#### **2. Stabilization and Accessories – PKR 15,000**

Smooth and professional-looking footage requires proper stabilization equipment. Renting a **gimbal (such as the DJI Ronin-S)** will help achieve steady tracking shots. Additionally, a **tripod** is necessary for static shots, and ND filters will help control lighting outdoors. Renting these accessories will cost around **PKR 15,000** for the duration of the shoot.

#### **3. Lighting Equipment – PKR 10,000**

Since lighting plays a crucial role in setting the mood of the video, we will allocate **PKR 10,000** for renting **LED softboxes, portable light panels, and reflectors**. These will ensure consistency in lighting, particularly for indoor and nighttime scenes, where natural light is insufficient.

#### **4. Sound and Audio – PKR 5,000**

Although the final video will use the original song as its audio, capturing high-quality **ambient sound and dialogues** for behind-the-scenes footage or promotional content requires proper equipment. Renting a **boom mic or a lapel mic** will cost around **PKR 5,000**.

#### **5. Editing Software and Post-Production – PKR 10,000**

For editing, software such as **Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve Studio** will be used. While DaVinci Resolve has a free version, investing in the paid version or **Adobe Premiere’s monthly subscription** (around PKR 10,000) ensures access to advanced color grading and effects.

#### **6. Transportation and Logistics – PKR 10,000**

Moving between shooting locations will require **vehicle rentals or fuel costs**. A budget of **PKR 10,000** is allocated for transportation to ensure that the crew and equipment are transported efficiently.

#### **7. Miscellaneous and Contingency – PKR 10,000**

Unexpected costs may arise, such as additional location permits, last-minute rentals, or reshoots. Keeping **PKR 10,000** as a contingency fund ensures flexibility in handling any unforeseen expenses.

### **Total Budget: PKR 100,000**

This budget plan ensures that all essential aspects of production—**camera quality, stabilization, lighting, sound, editing, and logistics**—are well covered while maintaining financial discipline. By renting equipment instead of purchasing and utilizing free editing tools where possible, we maximize production value without exceeding our budget.

planning: risk analysis

Risk Analysis for Music Video Shoot

Conducting a music video shoot involves various risks that must be managed to ensure a smooth production process. These risks include **technical failures, weather disruptions, safety hazards, legal concerns, and logistical issues**. By identifying these potential problems and implementing preventive measures, we can minimize delays and unexpected costs.

1. Technical Risks

One of the most significant risks during the shoot is equipment failure. **Cameras, lenses, stabilizers, and lighting gear** are essential for high-quality production, and any malfunction can disrupt the schedule. To mitigate this, **backup equipment should be available**, and all gear must be tested before the shoot. Additionally, ensuring that batteries are fully charged and extra memory cards are on hand will prevent unexpected interruptions.

2. Weather Risks

Since the shoot is scheduled for multiple days in March, **unpredictable weather conditions in Islamabad** could pose a major challenge. Rain, strong winds, or overcast skies may affect lighting and scene continuity, particularly for outdoor shoots. To address this, **a contingency plan should be in place**, including alternate indoor locations or rescheduling options. Checking **real-time weather forecasts** and having waterproof covers for cameras and lighting equipment can also help minimize disruptions.

3. Safety Hazards

Filming in urban environments, particularly on streets or rooftops, poses **safety risks for cast and crew**. Slippery surfaces, uneven terrain, and moving traffic could lead to accidents. Ensuring that all locations are properly scouted in advance and **securing necessary permissions for public spaces** can prevent unexpected conflicts. Crew members should also wear appropriate footwear, and a basic **first-aid kit should be readily available** on set.

4. Legal and Permission Risks

Shooting in public spaces without proper authorization could lead to legal issues or interruptions by authorities. Some locations may require **permits or permissions**, especially if the shoot involves professional-grade equipment or large setups. It’s essential to obtain prior approvals and **inform relevant authorities or property owners** to avoid delays. Additionally, securing signed release forms from actors and extras ensures that their participation is legally covered.

5. Logistical Challenges

Coordinating transportation, ensuring timely availability of equipment, and managing crew schedules can be difficult, especially with limited time and budget. Any **delays in transportation** can result in lost daylight or rushed shooting conditions. To prevent this, all equipment rentals, transport arrangements, and schedules should be finalized in advance. A **detailed production timeline** will help streamline operations and ensure that everyone involved is on the same page.

6. Post-Production Risk

After filming, risks continue in post-production. **Corrupted files, software crashes, or editing delays** can affect the final delivery of the video. To mitigate this, all footage should be backed up on multiple hard drives, and **editing software should be tested** before beginning post-production. Allocating extra time in the schedule for unforeseen editing challenges will also help prevent last-minute stress.

Conclusion

By acknowledging these risks and preparing contingency plans, the production team can reduce potential disruptions and ensure a successful shoot. **Thorough planning, risk assessments, and backup solutions** will enable the team to handle any challenges that arise, leading to a well-executed music video that meets both creative and technical expectations.
